Sit down, let me tell you a story…

Every new year we sing a familiar tune and I’m reminded of an essay from one of my favorite storytellers.

It began as story I heard during the NYC leg of his book tour for Turtles All The Way Down, then a youtube video essay /vlog, then a podcast episode, then a part of the published book- The Anthropocene Reviewed. Through all that, the backstory of Auld Lang Syne has always stuck with me, especially how it’s told by John Green — and now a voiceover by me.

Whether you are starting out your new year simply glad to be HERE, glad to have made it through - or full of hope like John- I wish you a Happy New Year.
